Bereavement Ministry

The Church ministers to the bereaved family at the time of death and continues to walk with them during this period of pain and sorrow. Our parish staff assists the family during funeral arrangements, the vigil service and funeral liturgy.

Funeral Alter Servers

We have a team of volunteers who serve as Funeral Altar Servers. This ministry is open to adults (men or women) who may have a little time to spare. Consideration will also be given to our youth altar servers who would like to serve a funeral during the summer months. Due to the nature of this ministry, parent’s permission will be required for our youth to serve. As you know, the timing of funerals is very unpredictable, so it’s not a specific day, but funerals are usually early in the day. We will give you all the training you need and you will always be serving with someone else. If you would like to learn more about becoming a funeral altar server, please call Lorri O’Dea at 694-4891, ext. 202.

Luncheon Servers

Hospitality volunteers are needed to provide desserts or salads to accompany our catered funeral lunches. Volunteers are also needed to set-up, to serve and clean-up the luncheon room. If you would like to add your name to our calling list for luncheon volunteers, please call Carrie Pilarski at 694-4891, ext. 272.

Funeral Worship Aids

Volunteers are needed to fold and staple funeral liturgy worship aids. If you are available during the day and willing to be called as needed to help, please contact Lorri O’Dea at 694-4891, ext. 214.

Ministry to the Ill

Please let the Parish Office know when someone in your family is ill. Arrange to have the Eucharist brought to the ill or shut-in at home by calling Linda Blondin at 694-4891, ext. 213.

Eucharist to the Homebound

We are always looking for new volunteers to serve as Eucharistic Ministers to the homebound. Training is provided.

Eucharistic Ministers to Nursing Homes

We also have opportunities to serve as Eucharistic Ministers to several area nursing homes. Holy Family provides Holy Communion to nine facilities in Grand Blanc. Our priest celebrate Mass at five of the facilities once a month. On the other weeks, Eucharistic Ministers are needed to bring the Eucharist to the residents. Training is provided.
If you are interested in serving in either of these ways as a Eucharistic Minister, please contact Linda Blondin at 810-694-4891, ext. 213.

Communion and Rosary Service

A Communion service including the rosary is celebrated each week at two of the nursing homes. Volunteers are needed to come lead the rosary. All are welcome to attend to pray the rosary with us also. Please call Linda Blondin, 810-694-4891, ext. 213, for more information.
