Fr. Gary: It’s hard to see him go. He is really a remarkable priest. I am going to miss being with him, praying with him, and just talking with him. He’s often mentioned to me how much he has learned from me, but seriously, I have learned a lot from him. He is very dedicated, always wants to do the right thing, and simply wants to serve the people. Some affectionately call him “the kid.” He is wise above his years. We ask the Lord to bless his future endeavors wherever he is assigned. Please stop by his going away gathering today from 1 – 3 pm in the parish hall.

Fr. Dan: I was recently talking with a priest friend who knows Fr. Dan well. He mentioned how excited Fr. Dan is about coming to our parish. I am very confident that you will find him a great blessing to our parish family. He brings a lot of unique gifts and talents. I keep on running into people who knew him in Lansing and they said we are really going to love him. We are hosting a welcoming party for Fr. Dan on Thursday, June 29, after the 5:30 p.m. Mass. Please come and say hello to him. He is also introducing himself at all the Masses next weekend, July 1 and 2.

Four Chaplains: Further in this bulletin you will find the fascinating story of the four chaplains who served during World War II. A generous donor from our parish said he would provide a $500 scholarship to the Holy Family school student who wrote the best essay on the four chaplains. (Name removed for web publication) was the winner. You can find her essay on page 12.

Champs: I really enjoyed watching the girls Powers soccer team win the Division 2 title game in Williamston, a 4 – 0 victory over Freeland. Great job, as well, to the Grand Blanc girls soccer team which finished runner-up in Division 1, which is no small feat.

Solanus: Through the generosity of a donor, we now have a statue of Fr. Solanus Casey in the flower gardens near the steps of our campus. Fr. Solanus, who will soon be designated as ‘Blessed’ by the Church, is just one step away from being canonized a saint. If you haven’t had the opportunity to go to visit the Detroit Solanus Casey Center, please do so. Our 8th graders go every year. Lots of miracles have happened through his intercession.

July 4: There are free tickets available to attend a Flint Symphony Music concert and fireworks show at Atwood Stadium. Should be a lot of fun for families. If interested, please contact the parish office.
