Greetings in Christ! I pray that God bless you and yours with His love and light this day.

I wanted to focus the bulletin this week on the upcoming Welcome Weekend. While Holy Family is hosting, we are hoping for both of my Parish Families to take part in it.

Since I’ve got here, I’ve been blown away by the sheer number of people who have participated in the Welcome Weekend and had their lives transformed by it.

Last time we offered this for men, we didn’t have much interest at all and so we had to cancel. It is my hope that each man reading this will take a moment and ask “God, do you want me to go?”

I think sometimes, we get in trouble because we look at scheduling the spiritual around the question “Do I have time to go?”

For me, my life changed for the better when I realized that the most important question I can ask in regard to spiritual questions centers around me asking God “Do you want me to?”

When I was a younger man I stopped asking how someone like me could or should ever be a priest and starting asking “God, do you want me to be a priest?”

Too often, we treat our relationship with God as another option, as a thing we do if we have extra time. To that, I invite us to remember Jesus words “Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and everything else will be added to you.”

So…that’s my pitch. Gents, I’m asking you to pray about it and respond accordingly. I don’t think anyone who goes will regret it.

With that, here is the information you’ll need to attend:

Men’s Welcome Weekend
Saturday March 16th 8:30 am to 9:00 pm and
Sunday 8:00 am to 4:00pm.
Great meals – friendly talk – no overnight stay – no cost to attend.

To close out this article, I wanted to let you know that I’ll be heading off with some of my family for a vacation at the end of this month. I’ll be leaving after the noon mass on February 24th and coming back the next week.

I’m very excited for this, my brain is tired! Please pray that I have a safe trip and restful time.
