Last week I was able to update you on our Mary statue and I am so glad to catch your excitement about it. I simply cannot wait until they get here!
This week I am equally excited to show you the progress of our Joseph with Jesus statue. We began by choosing a statue from their catalog. Each statue is carved once the order is placed, which is why the process takes so long, but it also gives us the opportunity to make requests, or changes.
For instance, we requested the palm tree be changed to a board or tool, depicting Joseph’s vocation as carpenter. We can see how the artist carves the wood with the catalog picture and clay model in his sight, guiding him through the process, which you can see in the photo. I found this fascinating.
As you read this, I am probably getting on the boat for the Marriage cruise. Pray for me, I’ll miss you all very much.
