Greetings in Christ, all!

A warm welcome to Fr. Dave Howell who has (hopefully!) moved into St. Mark in Goodrich this week. Despite looking about 10 years younger than me, Fr. Dave has achieved the mythical “Senior Priest Status” in our diocese and I invited him to move into the rectory at St. Mark’s, where he will be helping out with Masses and confessions. I can’t tell you how blessed I am to have such a holy and good man moving into our neighborhood.

We are right now moving into Ordinary Time and, as a reminder, Ordinary Time as the Church uses it is a reflection of Latin, not English. When we say “Ordinary,” we mean plain or usual. When the Church says “Ordinary,” she is using the Latin word for a progression of numbers. Remember, there is NOTHING ordinary about being loved by God.

Don’t forget that next week, I’ll be praying Mass at Holy Family for everyone at 9:00 am in honor of our country’s 4th of July festival. Both offices will be closed the next day, just as an FYI.

For our Holy Family parishioners, let’s cover the Grand Blanc festival real quick. Before I get into the numbers, I want to offer a massive, major thanks to all those who poured all their energy into this thing. I was blown away at the commitment and joy of our volunteers. It was such a riot, I’m already geeked for next year.

I was told we didn’t publish the intake for last year’s festival, so I’ll post last and this year’s:

In 2018, we made $9,890 from the festival. This year, we made approximately $13,500, as we settle the last few invoices. Additionally, we collected nonperishable food items and $462 for Outreach.

Obviously, this festival is “working” for us. We’ll go at it again next year unless something changes dramatically and I’ll be counting on lots and lots of volunteers to help us out. Once we get the date for the festival, I invite us all to put it in our calendars now!

So…that’s it. Lots and lots going on and I simply can’t get it all in these articles. Pray for our two parish families and pray for your priests.

Thank you for letting me serve you.
