Greetings in Christ, all!

We are at the midway point in our Lenten Season and this is my reminder to us all to never give up, to start over as often as we need to and to challenge ourselves to make sure we are giving our all during this glorious season, this Spiritual Boot Camp.

Please make sure to note the upcoming Penance Services and opportunities during Lent (see below). Holy Week is, as a general rule, not a good time to call and go after our Lenten Reconciliation Obligation. To be clear, of course we priests will do all we can if you end up needing a confession that week, but we’ve got lots of opportunities and all we need to do is plan ahead a bit so that we can all make sure to do our spiritual house cleaning before the Triduum Events!

Don’t forget our Three Goals in Lent: we up our prayer, fasting and charitable giving in order to remind ourselves that we were created for eternity. We were created by love for love to love.

April 4th is a day of Penance. You’ll see that we have confessions available at Holy Family all during the day, with a wonderful Lenten Service of Music and prayer from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. While this is at Holy Family, it is, of course, for both Parish Families.

I would like to close this out by asking for your prayers. The next few weeks are going to be very life giving, but very challenging for me and, I assume, for most priests. The calendar is quite challenging, but life giving. Please pray that I remember to put Jesus first, take a deep breath and focus on being faithful.

I am so very grateful to God for the gift of serving you.

Your priest,
fjk
