Greetings in Christ, all!

This weekend, we are blessed beyond measure to celebrate with many of our young ones as they receive their First Communion. Please rejoice with them as they receive the Gift of God that you and I may accidentally become too accustomed to.  Pray that they and their parents experience the joy of this moment beyond that of a cultural or spiritual ritual and instead, see deeper into the heart of it: Christ offers Himself to us in the Eucharist.

It is my fervent hope and prayer that this is the first of a lifetime of communions for our little ones as they walk through their lives.  St. John Vianney put it best: “The Eucharist is God’s greatest gift to us.  If He had something better, He would’ve given that.”

We also have cause to rejoice on our business side of things…our garage sale was a smashing success.  It would be hard to overstate how blessed I was to see so many new volunteers joyfully serving this fundraiser, joining hands with those who volunteer often and pouring themselves out.  It is a great gift to our Parish Family and I’m so thankful.

I’ve been asked about assistance for our hearing impaired.  As a person who is hearing impaired, I thank God everyday for my hearing aids.  I know that at St. Mark, we have the Loop system which puts the sound of mass directly into the hearing aids but we do not have that at Holy Family.  When we looked into the Loop system here, it was a bit out of our range and would involve a bit more than we can commit to.  We’ll research and see what other options we have.

I thank God each day for the joy of being your priest.  I pray God bless you all.
