Greetings in Christ!

I think it may be official that fall weather is here and if so, count this fat man as happy! Fall is my favorite time of year; even though it’s the end of baseball, it’s such a wonderful season.

During Sunday Masses, one of our options for the Preface is about the changing seasons. The Preface is the part the priest prays right before the Holy, Holy, Holy.

The Preface reads like this:

For you laid the foundations of the world
and have arranged the changing of times and seasons;
you formed man in your own image
and set humanity over the whole world in all its wonder,
to rule in your name over all you have made
and for ever praise you in your mighty works,
through Christ our Lord.

I like that.

Let’s thank God for his mastery over it all and for letting us be a part of His magnificent creation!

I’m going to be gone a lot of this week. I was asked to be the Moderator of the Convocation for the Priests of the Diocese of Marquette, which will be held in Green Bay, Wisconsin, this year. I’m really honored to do this. I’ll be giving five talks, hearing confessions and praying Mass with these wonderful men.

If you would, please pray that I listen to the Lord and that I am faithful. Pray that my brother priests find the strength and encouragement of the Holy Spirit through my words. Dad will come with me so the drive won’t feel so long, so pray for the poor man stuck in a car with me on the seven-hour drive to Green Bay, Wisconsin, and back.

I’ll miss you all!  See you later this week!
