Ghost: The disciples think they are seeing a ghost when they see Jesus. Obviously, Jesus is not a ghost. Jesus tells them that a ghost does not have flesh and bones. He also asks for food and eats it—something a ghost would not do! Have you ever thought about heaven in this way? That, we too, will have flesh and bones and eat as well—hopefully with not having to worry about the calories. Can’t wait!

Exciting News:
About a month ago, Jet Kilmer from the Grand Blanc Chamber of Commerce approached our parish about joining them in the city festival (Grand Blanc Family Fun Fest) from June 7 – 10. After much prayer and discussion we decided to join them. We will have our own tent on our parish grounds. This year the festival has been moved to Grand Blanc High School. A committee has been formed for working on the many details of this endeavor. We are hoping that many parishioners will volunteer for this community event. It should be a lot of fun! If you would like to participate as a sponsor, please contact Ann Tabereaux at atabereaux@hfsgb.org.

Parish Picnic: Because we are taking part in the city festival, we decided that we will not be having a parish picnic this year. We hope that parishioners will take part in our tent at the Family Fun Fest. Thanks for your understanding.

DSA:
This weekend we will introduce the Diocesan Services Appeal (DSA). If you remember, last year we didn’t have a DSA because of the Witness to Hope Campaign. Our goal is $188,000. I plan on giving and I hope we all share in supporting the diocese in their special endeavors. Thank you for your generosity in advance.

College of Consultors:
This Thursday, April 19, I will be at the College of Consultors meeting at the diocese. This board approves parish capital improvements/building plans. Our parish will be on the agenda!

Vocation Day:
Bishop Boyea will be here this Tuesday, April 17, for a Mass with several hundred 7th graders from throughout the diocese. After Mass, the 7th graders will break out into small groups to discuss vocations.

First Communion Dinner:
Speaking of eating, our second graders will enjoy a dinner this Thursday, April 19, in preparation for their First Communion. What an exciting time for them!

Drama:
Really looking forward to watching our school play, Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, next weekend. The shows are Friday, April 20, at 7 pm and Saturday, April 21, at 2 pm. All are welcome to attend.

Mystery:
Ticket sales are going well for our school auction on May 19. The theme is a mystery dinner. Purchase your tickets at hfsgb.org.

Taxes: In 1789 Benjamin Franklin wrote a letter to a friend stating, “Our new Constitution is now established, and has an appearance that promises permanency; but in this world nothing can be said to be certain, except death and taxes.” Hope you got your taxes done!

Happy Easter!!!

With love and prayers,
Msgr. Jerry

“Jesus on the cross feels the whole weight of the evil, and with the force of God’s love he conquers it; he defeats it with his resurrection. This is the good that Jesus does for us on the throne of the cross. Christ’s cross, embraced with love, never leads to sadness, but to joy, to the joy of having been saved and of doing a little of what he did on the day of his death.”
Pope Francis
