In-pew survey: Thanks to all of you who filled out the in-pew survey last weekend. We got a lot of responses and we sent them to Greater Mission, the organization that is running the capital campaign at the diocese. I had a chance to briefly scan the responses. The diocese will send me a report sometime within the next couple of weeks.
Remember the Titans: At our school auction a few weeks ago, one of the auction items was a football game between Fr. Gary and me with parents bidding to have their school children on each team. That game is this Sunday, June 12, at 3 p.m. at the Grand Blanc High School field. I’ve been creating plays to outwit Fr. Gary and his game plan.
Crim Race: After last year’s Crim race, I mentioned in my bulletin column that I was hoping to run in the race this year. Some people kept reminding me of that. And then recently a generous parishioner signed me up for the 10-mile race. I don’t know whether to thank him or be mad at him. And then this parishioner told me if I train well that I could top Fr. Gary’s time. I believe in miracles, but I don’t see that happening. The only way I could beat Fr. Gary in a race is if he does what he did several years ago in a race. When I was the vocation director, I asked our seminarians to run in a race for charity. While running the five-mile race, Fr. Gary took a wrong turn and ended up running eight miles instead. I ended up having a better finish time! Maybe someone could lead Fr. Gary on the wrong path at the Crim Race!
School is out: The last day of school is June 10. It’s been a great year. I really appreciate all the hard work that our principal, Mrs. Purcell, and the teachers and staff put in for service to our students. We also want to especially recognize Orysia Novajovsky, who is retiring after being our school secretary for many years. She’s done a fantastic job and we will miss her.
Summer office hours: Beginning on June 13, our summer office hours will be 9 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. This will continue until September 6.
Community Garden: Really impressed with the garden that our school, led by Maria Gonzalez and our 6th graders, has put in. The produce will help supply our Outreach Center. Everything looks great!
Alumni Gathering: Our school alumni gathering is set for July 23 and our parish picnic the day after, on Sunday, July 24. Hope to see many of you there.
New Business Manager: We are excited to have Dennis Bertolini, a parishioner, join our staff as our business manager. Dennis and his wife have two children, with the oldest attending our school.
Veterans: Last fall there was a survey for veterans. The fruit of this survey is the Holly Area Veteran’s Resource Center. On Monday, June 20, the new Center (300 East Street in Holly) will have its Grand Opening, at 7 p.m.
Anniversary: This Sunday, June 12, is the 17th anniversary of my being ordained a priest. So happy that I am here!
Niece’s wedding: Next weekend I will be out of town for my niece’s wedding and family festivities. I am really happy for Katie and her fiancé, Ross.
Hope you enjoy the beautiful weather and be assured of my love and prayers.
Msgr. Jerry
