Congratulations on your engagement!  We share your happiness and pray that God will bless you abundantly during this time of preparation for marriage and throughout your married life.

Below you will find helpful information and a general description of the preparation process for couples interested in marrying at Holy Family.

As we help couples prepare for married life, we use a preparation process called Witness to Life.  This preparation/formation process provides couples with a sound foundation on which to build their marriage.

You will be assisted through this process by our Marriage Prep Coordinator, Dcn. Ron Kenny, and you may direct any questions to him at Dcn. Ron manages the marriage prep process at Holy Family and St. Mark parishes.

Our formation process continues to use a Pre-Marriage inventory (FOCCUS), which you will be able to take online.  This inventory is reviewed by a trained facilitator couple who will cover the results with you in one session.

This is not a test.  It is an opportunity to review topics of discussion that will highlight your areas of strength as a couple, and individually, as well as areas you may need to work on to strengthen your relationship.

The Process

In addition to the Pre-Marriage Inventory, you will continue your preparation with a Mentor Couple (of your choosing, based on guidelines) that will walk with you during your time of preparation, as well as after your wedding.  They will be a tremendous resource for you, both personally and as a connection to parish life.

You will get to know our parish priests and/or deacon during this process and have a meeting to discuss marriage in-depth, where he will be able to answer any questions you may have.

As well, you will learn about natural family planning through a class which presents information to assist you in welcoming children into your marriage, in accordance with God’s design.

Supplemental to the Witness to Love formation process will be classes to help you with life skills, which include finances, communication and conflict-resolution, to name a few.

We want you to arrive on your wedding day fully prepared and aware of the presence of Jesus, so you will also receive some religious instruction on the liturgy itself and help in planning out some of the details.

You will also have an opportunity as part of your preparation to attend a retreat designed to help you deeply encounter Jesus so that your relationship with him will continue to grow and sustain your married life.

The length of time for your personal preparation and potential wedding date will be estimated at your initial meeting with the Priest.

We are excited to be a part of your marriage formation, so if you would like to get started, please contact Dcn. Ron Kenny at
