Greetings in Christ!

At the time of the writing of this bulletin article, I am getting ready to go in for my MRI. It’s been an interesting and frustrating process, but I am hopeful that when they get the MRI, my doctor will be able to take action and get my knee going again.

Thank you for your prayers and support!

I was so blessed to be at Fr. Jim Swiat’s funeral and to see so many Holy Family Parishioners there. Fr. Jim gave us a gift we will never be able to repay.

Theresa Dyer is one of our superstar employees here at Holy Family. She gives her all with such diligence and grace. She recalled Fr. Swiat’s last bulletin article as our pastor and shared it with us on staff. I’m so grateful for her memory and devotion. Her message touched my heart and I want to share it with you.

The Mass intention for this weekend’s 10:00 am Mass is for Fr. Swiat’s soul.

God bless you all…thank you for letting me be your priest!

Fr. Swiat’s Prayer of Kindness

While watching the livestream of Fr. Swiat’s funeral, I heard mention of how kind our former pastor was. That reminded me of the prayer that Fr. Swiat shared with us in his final bulletin article before he retired. I had clipped it out and it is one of my favorites. I looked it up in our bulletin archives and will share the last paragraph of his parting bulletin article.

“From Our Pastor” (Fr. James Swiat), June 24, 2007
Holy Family parish bulletin, page 3:
I want to leave you with a prayer I have saved since high school – given to me by my sophomore religion teacher. It’s been my daily companion these many years.

Keep me, O Lord, from all pettiness
Let me be large in thought, in word
  and in deed.
May I put away all pretense, and meet my neighbor
  face-to-face, without self-pity,
  and without prejudice.
May I never be hasty in my judgments,
but always generous to all, and in all things.
Make me grow calm, serene, and gentle.
Teach me to put into action my better impulses,
  to be straight-forward and unafraid.
And Lord, God, let me not forget to be kind.
