Greetings in Christ, all!

Last week in my homily I talked to you about Bishop Boyea’s homily regarding the Synod for a Synodal Church. That homily is located on our social media pages and I encourage you to take a few minutes to listen to what Bishop has to say. The Synod conversation guides will be available in the gathering space over the next few weeks. The digital form can also be found on our website, hfgb.org.

This is a big week for the priests of the diocese of Lansing. From Monday until Thursday, we will be in Dewitt, Michigan, for a week of talks and prayer. As I understand it, this is all part of the Bishop’s effort to get us thinking, praying and serving in ways that are consistent with the life of a priest now and I’m pretty excited.

I have been blessed to hear and work with Fr. John Riccardo in the past and I am pumped that he will be our presenter. God has given him a special gift and Fr. John puts those gifts at the service of the Kingdom. Pray for us and know that I will miss you.

During the retreat, while all the priests are gathered in DeWitt, our parish will offer liturgy of the Word with Distribution of Holy Communion, or what is commonly referred to as a Communion Service. We will not offer confessions on Wednesday evening.

While I am gone, Dad is going to stay with one of my sisters and Marius will go with family as well, though a different one because, apparently, the fact that I do not discipline him can be a problem sometimes hahaha.

I’ve prerecorded the online Catechetical Sessions for that week. We’ll play them at the normal time, with me resuming the show live on Friday.

For those who would like to listen to or watch our homilies here at Holy Family and/or would like to listen to/watch the Catechesis classes, you can find us by searching Joe In Black Ministries on your favorite podcasting service or subscribe to my YouTube Channel, also by searching Joe in Black Ministries.

Anyway, we’ll be back Thursday night and get right into our normal schedule after that.

I’ll miss you all. I love praying with you and thank Jesus everyday that we get to walk together with Him.
