Happy and Holy Epiphany to all!

This week we are celebrating the Epiphany. Epiphany is a word from Koine Greek which translates “Striking Appearance” or “Manifestation.” A few interesting points about The Feast of the Epiphany: Both Eastern and Western Catholics have celebrated this feast on this day since pretty early on: even before we settled on a date for Christmas.

In the East, this celebration tended to be about the whole beginning of Christ’s life: His birth, the Magi, finding in the temple…everything in His life up to the wedding at Cana!

For us Western Christians, we tend to focus on the Magi coming to Jesus as a child and acknowledging Him. This is so important because it was our first signal from God that He was/is opening up salvation and relationship with Him to Gentiles (non Jews). We thank God for His love and light, which draws all of us to Him!

I want to thank you with all my heart for your amazing generosity this Christmas. I am truly touched by the many cards, the food and gifts…I always tell people that I’m a fat happy priest and you all are making every element of that statement possible! God bless you for your generosity…I love being your priest!
