Greetings in Christ, all!
I hope you all had a wonderful 4th of July and were able to spend time with family and friends.
I have an important update about our summer maintenance schedule: the parish office will be closed to walk-in traffic Monday, July 8 – Friday, July 12 for painting and floor waxing. During this time our employees will be working from home while taking your calls and emails and attending to the business of the parish.
The other update I have to share with you is about our future garage & Outreach building which will host our ministry to the poor and vulnerable and serve as well as a garage and storage space. We are in the process of gathering bids and we hope to begin in the fall. This is the building that will go on the large lawn area in the north and west end of our property, across from the school.
Once completed, we will move our Outreach there as well as our tools and tractors and storage items and then we will tear down all of the little sheds and garage there at the end of the parking lot. As for the building that Outreach is currently in, Holy Family committed to the city years ago that we would tear it down and so we will do that, as well as tearing down the house on the west/south corner of our property as it cannot be repaired in such a way to make it livable. It will be a lot of work but produce a lot of goodness. We will have more parking spaces, more storage space that is better organized and a better place to offer our assistance to those in need. We will plant trees and make a nice area in the south and west corner of our property where a house and garage currently are.
These are big steps for us. We will be asking for some help to fund this project as we get closer and have a better idea of our specific financial needs. We’ll keep you updated obviously.
Caring for those in need is not an option for us Christians, it is a command from God Himself. I bless and honor you all for ensuring that we fulfill that command here at Holy Family.
Thank you with all my heart for letting me be your priest.
