Greetings in Christ, all!

I’m sorry I missed the bulletin last week. I was quite sick. That week of May 19-25 was a rough one for both of our parish families…we had six funerals, Fr. Peter was away and I was laid up sick. Fr. Bill and Deacon Ron were supermen for us during that time and I am so very grateful to God for them.

I really do appreciate all your kindness while I was sick. I have weak lungs and, as a result, I tend to crash out for about a week in mid winter and early spring. I hate it, but there’s not really much I can do but lay there until my body heals. I’m not good at “laying there” lol.

Anyway, it appears that whatever this sickness was, it hit a lot of people all over and, curiously enough, that did have an effect on us at Holy Family. May 24th was the meeting at the diocese where they were going to review our finances for the parish rebuild, but apparently so many members of that committee were sick that they couldn’t get a quorum. I’ll let you know when I hear anything. Sorry I couldn’t give you the news this week.

For both of our parish families, I am back in the saddle and by the time you read this, I should be 100%. This next weekend is the big festival in Grand Blanc and Holy Family will have the entertainment tent: I invite everyone from both my Parish Families to come by, visit and enjoy the food and music. I will be making my World-Famous Flint Style Coney Sauce! I don’t want to say it’s the best Coney Sauce Ever, but it’s the Best Coney Sauce Ever.

At St. Mark, Deacon Ron and I were blessed to meet with Fr. Dave Howell about moving into our rectory in Goodrich. He is currently serving as Pastor at St. Mary Magdalen in Brighton and is moving into St. Mark the last week of June to serve the community there with me. I’m very excited about this; Fr. Dave has always struck me as a holy, kind and wise priest and I’m looking forward to us praying with him and getting to know him better. We’ll make sure to set something up to give him a proper St. Mark Welcome!

So…that’s it for this week. Thank you so much for your kindness and for letting me serve you as your priest. I love you all with the love that Christ has given me.

Your priest,
fjk
