Capital Campaign News: This weekend we are inviting parishioners to pick up their pledge packet for the Witness to Hope campaign. The campaign packets can be picked up after the 8 and 10 a.m. Masses in the parish hall. From 9 a.m. – Noon the Knights of Columbus are offering a free pancake breakfast in the Fr. Bush Parish Center. The campaign packets can be picked up in the Church after the 5 p.m., Noon and 6 p.m. Masses. Thank you for your generosity in advance.

CRHP: Next weekend, October 15 and 16, is the women’s Christ Renews His Parish (CRHP) retreat. These are very powerful gatherings! There has been a waiting list on the women’s retreat for some time now. The men’s CRHP gathering is the first weekend of November (5th and 6th). We are hoping and praying that more men will sign up for the retreat.

Music and Story: This Friday evening, October 14, Luke Spehar will be mixing in his personal story of faith with music in our parish hall at 7 p.m. Luke was in the seminary with Fr. Gary before discerning that he was called to marriage.

Grand Blanc Football: Next Sunday, October 16, the Holy Family Athletic Boosters are hosting a pancake breakfast with guest speaker Joe Delaney, the head football coach at Grand Blanc High School. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students. Proceeds support Holy Family Athletics. Hope to see you there. |

Genesee County Catholic Schools: This Friday, October 14, all the 5th and 6th graders from our Catholic schools in Genesee County will be present for an all school Mass. I look forward to being there with all my brother priests from the region.

Camille Doherty: Long-time and very active parishioners of Holy Family Parish, Frank and Camille Doherty, moved to Arizona several years ago. Many people know them. We received word that Camille died on Saturday, October 1. Please keep their family in prayer.

Catholic Charities: Attended the 75th anniversary of Catholic Charities on September 29. I enjoyed watching Fr. Gary imitate Ringo Starr of the Beatles on the drums! But the highlight for me was when a man who had been in prison for thirty years discussed how he benefited from Re-Connections, a program that Catholic Charities hosts at their facilities in Flint. Re-Connections teaches skills to those who have been incarcerated. Since being trained this man has held a job for 18 months with perfect attendance even though he has to take the bus to work every day.
Columbus Day: On Monday, October 10, America celebrates the discovery of America by Christopher Columbus in 1492. We remember that Columbus’ original intent was to search for a sea route to Asia with the hopes of finding spices and gold. Instead he ended up discovering America. As one author said, this might have been one of the most successful failures in history.

Tigers: Like many of you, I am a little disappointed the Tigers didn’t make the playoffs. And the Lions—no comment!

Have a Blessed week. Looking forward to seeing the fall colors.

Msgr. Jerry
