A Cup of Joe

Greetings in Christ! I have a lot of updates for you all and it’s my intent to use the bulletin to catch you up on these things. Please share this information with folks that maybe couldn’t get to Mass if you would. The first thing is I’d like to talk about our property a bit, as […]

Greetings in Christ! I’m writing to you this week with one reminder and three big updates. First, next weekend I will be away for a scheduled retreat and we have not been able to schedule priests to cover all our Masses. What does this mean? Unfortunately, we will again need to have one of our scheduled […]

Greetings in Christ, all! Boy, I jumped right back into it here…lots of funerals, lots of meetings, all of it. I am very grateful for the break and realize I need to be more faithful to vacations/times away. I’m working on it. There are a lot of things going on here in our parish and I’m very […]

Greetings in Christ! If I do the math right (always an iffy proposition) I am on my yearly retreat/vacation.  A crazy thing happened that led to a great blessing…shortly before the retreat started, the house we were using had to be canceled because construction went way over.  It meant that we had to find a […]

Greetings in Christ! I’m typing this one early, so there really won’t be any current events, sorry about that! After my last Mass on Sunday, I will be going away for my yearly retreat/vacation. One of my cousins has a house on Lake Michigan and I’m going to stay there. My buddy Geoff will be there as […]

Greetings in Christ, all! This week our country celebrates the 4th of July holiday. It’s a great time for us to remember how blessed we are to live in relative freedom. We are free to worship, free to pray, free to let our faith challenge us to care for the poor and vulnerable…that makes us blessed. I […]

Greetings in Christ, all! I wanted to take a moment and thank you all for the ridiculously wonderful outpouring of love and support you offered me on my anniversary of ordination. It meant the world to me. My family now has a deeper sense of the love I know here at Holy Family and St. Mark and […]

Greetings in Christ, all! This weekend the noon Mass is for my 25th anniversary of ordination…can you believe it? I’m so grateful to Jesus that I get to be here and St. Mark. I love this assignment and thank Jesus every day for you. I have a write-up in a program for that Mass that will be available […]

Greetings in Christ, all! Last Saturday we joyfully celebrated the arrival and installation of our new baptismal font by both blessing the font and celebrating baptism of four children. The wait has been long, but we are pleased and blessed by what we now have. My homily last weekend reviewed the design of our church […]

Greetings in Christ, all! Sunday (and Saturday night), we celebrate the Ascension of Our Lord. We see the basic pattern of God’s saving work in the order of the Church calendar. The beginning of the Church year is December, when we celebrate Jesus being born. In His Person, He combined the divine and human nature. In this, He […]
