Greetings in Christ, all!

First Communion was such a blessing last weekend; praise God!  I am so very touched by the children who received our Lord for the first time in our community.  May Jesus bless their beautiful hearts to receive him their whole lives and to respond to that reception with love and devotion.

You may remember that about three years ago, we began sending out donation appeals for two of our four “Buckets”.  Our Buckets are

1. General Fund
2. Building and Grounds
3. Education Endowment
4. Outreach (care for the vulnerable and needy)

We fund two of those three by sending out mailers asking for donations.  This is the time of year when we send out our request for help with our Education Endowment.  You probably already received one in the mail.

This is our effort to build up a fund that will generate interest that we spread out over our cost to educate at school.  Obviously, our dream is to some day offer a Catholic Education for any parishioner at a very low cost.  Such a thing is only possible by building up this fund.  The great news is this: we have had two anonymous donors step forward and offer the following: if we can raise a total of at least $20,000, they will match it.

As you can probably tell, this is huge.  Every donation gets us one step closer to easily affordable tuition.  If you are able to help this effort financially, please do so. I have made my donation toward this effort and I invite you to join me.  If you are not in a position to help financially, please pray that God bless our efforts.

Finally, I am so happy to stop and wish a Happy Mother’s Day to all.

I love thinking about the fact that God did not need to have a Mom, He chose to.  Mom’s are such an important part of the human experience and God acknowledges that through being born of Our Mother Mary.

Please, thank Jesus for your Mom today.  Thank her for her “yes” to life.  Forgive her for her sins or failings and if she is with the Lord now, pray for her.  Ask her to pray for you.  Visit her grave if you can.

I close today by thanking God for you, my family here in Grand Blanc.  Thank you for loving God and for letting me be your priest.
