This weekend (October 24 & 25th, 2015) we implemented the changes to how we prepare the Altar at the beginning of the Liturgy of the Eucharist. Many of our servers attended one of the training sessions, but we have many that did not and will need some training. The changes will be very easy to learn.

Instead of scheduling more training sessions, each week I will be contacting the servers for the upcoming weekend and asking them to come in for practice, especially if the servers have not yet been trained for these new procedures. Even if you attended one of the original training sessions, please try to attend your Thursday practice before your scheduled weekend.

Practice sessions on Thursday evenings have proven to be VERY difficult for many of our servers, so we will try this approach….

Thursday Server Practice
(for those scheduled for the upcoming weekend)

THURSDAYS 3:15 – 4:30 p.m.

Thursday practices will serve many purposes:
– To train those who have not practiced the new procedure,
– Give more experience to our novice
servers, and give rise to seasoned servers
– To enhance and improve this very
important ministry.

These practices generally will not take an hour and 15 minutes, but I’m trying to accommodate the after school times of many schools. I am planning this like a “drop-in” practice…You come right after school. Maybe this will be easier for our servers. Remember this practice is not every Thursday for our servers…only the Thursday before you are scheduled to serve the weekend.

LAST BUT NOT LEAST…
Visit our website under Liturgical Ministries…go to Altar Servers and you can view a short video on the “New Preparation of the Altar.” This will give you some review. There are more videos to come.

Please call Lorri O’Dea, 694-4891, ext.214, if you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions.
