He is Risen! He is Risen Indeed!

That’s how my Mom greeted all of us every Easter Morning that I can think of. It was a tradition of sorts that as a kid, I never really thought of much but, now that she is gone, I think of it every Easter.

It is the core of our faith in many ways: we believe that Jesus, fully God and fully man, took on the sins of the world and put those sins to death in his body on the cross. Had He stopped there, we would love and worship him the rest of time but Jesus went further: He rose.

The collective sin and guilt of the entire human race was not enough to keep Him down: He rose. He made our sins His sins and He put them to death. He made His resurrection our resurrection and offers us life.

This is the truth that guides our every decision. This is the reality that informs our grief when we stand at the graves of our loved ones. This is what fills our hearts with hope when we stand with Our Blessed Mother at the foot of the crosses in our lives. He is risen!

He is risen indeed. Rejoice and never be afraid again.

May Jesus bless and guide us in this joyful Easter Season!

As I put in last week’s bulletin, our bulletin deadline makes it impossible for me to give you the news I hoped to. We are very, very close to getting the complete numbers in the bids for our restoration project at the Church.

The economy is booming and that is, of course, a blessed thing, but it means that most companies are working and bids are a bit tougher to nail down than we had hoped.

It seems to me that, given all this, I’ll still be able to host a couple town hall meetings at our Church in order to show the plans and give you all a timetable. All of our “Approval Meetings” will be wrapped up by then (hopefully!) and we should know if we’ll be able to proceed.

With that in mind, I want to invite all of you to either Town Hall meeting that we will be hosting on Thursday, April 25th, in the church. The first one will be at 11:00 a.m. and the second will be at 6:00 p.m. It is my hope that by offering one in the morning and one in the evening, we make it as easy as possible to come. At the meeting, we will have a brief presentation with drawings of the plan and an opportunity for questions.

I am so unbelievably excited about this: we are close! Please pray that God bless our efforts and guide our thinking and work on this project.

Next week, we will have two important items for you: first, the status of the building project, which will be in my bulletin column, and a State of the Parish Report in a separate handout.
