Greetings in Christ, everyone! I am back in Michigan and I have missed you all so very much. I can’t believe how deeply my two parish families have taken root in my heart in such a short time. I am grateful to God for you all.

The cruise could not have gone better. Over 500 Catholic couples came and we ministered to them with great talks, beautiful sacraments and time together that bore wonderful fruit. God is so good.

The second to last day of the cruise, I got hit pretty hard with sickness. I ended up having to go to the infirmary on the ship where they tested me and discovered I had vertigo and the influenza A virus. I was quarantined and forced to miss my flight home. I caught one much later in the day and got back safely.

I am typing this on Tuesday while laying in bed. My fever stayed at 102 for three days and I didn’t eat during that time. Yesterday I had a bowl of soup and I think I am on my way back, praise the Lord. Today is the best I have felt since Friday.

While I hate not being at work with you all, I did promise my doctor I would listen to her and not go back too early.

It was a very weird January: I missed my targets on a lot of projects and I made them on some. I am praying for the grace to keep trusting our Lord that he will take the little I do and turn it into something more.

So anyway, by the time you read this, I will be back to praying Masses with you and the thought of that makes me ridiculously happy.

I am grateful to God for the joy of being your priest.
