Witness to Hope Capital Campaign: Slowly but surely we are getting toward our goal of $4 million. A parishioner recently told me that they thought it was more important to reach our goal of 700 parishioners giving rather than the $4 million total. Both would be nice ☺! Thanks for all your words of encouragement and hope.

Final week: On this 4th Sunday of Advent we hear of the incredible faith of St. Joseph. His world had been turned upside down when he found out his fiance’, Mary, was pregnant and he knew he wasn’t the father. But he believed the message of the angel who told him “not to be afraid.” Following God sure is exciting and adventurous! By the way, this year we get the four full weeks of Advent. Next year the 4th Sunday of Advent and Christmas Eve fall on the same day.

School news: Each class of our school will be performing a musical on Monday, Dec. 19. I’m really impressed how they can put something together in such a short time. We’ll also find out who will win the Panther Draw raffle. Our students and staff are excited about the Christmas break beginning on December 22. School will resume on January 3.

Total of eight: Next weekend is Christmas and we have eight Masses scheduled (I told Fr. Gary he is taking seven of those Masses ☺). On Christmas Eve, Saturday, Dec. 24, we will have two Masses at 4 p.m. (one in the church and the other in the hall), 6 p.m. and midnight. On Sunday, Christmas Day, we will have Masses at 8 am, 10 am, Noon and 6 pm. We look forward to being with you to celebrate the birth of our Savior! Please bring someone you’ve been meaning to invite.

Pasta: Our beloved Knights of Columbus are having a spaghetti dinner on Wednesday, Dec. 21, in the Fr. Bush Parish Center from 5 – 7 pm.

Membership: Speaking of the Knights, they are in the midst of their membership drive. Their goal is to get 25 new members. If they do, they will become a Star Council and receive $1,000 from their National Office. That money, as it always is, would be used to help support charity events or organizations. Please consider joining the Knights. I have the utmost respect for them.

Healing: We had our healing service on Dec. 12. About 225 people attended. There were definitely some physical and spiritual healings that took place through the power of God.
Grateful: So thankful to our parish staff who do a remarkable job in serving the parish. We are having our Christmas party on Thursday, Dec. 22.

Restore the Roar: Can you believe it? The Detroit Lions, as I write this, are 9 – 4 and heading to the playoffs. If the Lions win the Super Bowl, it will be like the Cubs winning the World Series. Anything is possible!

Bball: I’ve started playing basketball on Sunday nights in our gym. There are about 15 men from our Grand Blanc/Flint community who attend. Please join us at 7 pm on Sundays if you are able.

Be assured of my prayers and love as we prepare for the coming of our Savior.

Msgr. Jerry
