Three in One: This weekend we celebrate the Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity. Pope Francis remarked that love is at the heart of the divine life of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. It is, he said, “a life of profound communion and perfect love, the origin and end of the whole universe and of every creature.” But he also added that the Holy Trinity is also the model of the Church “in which we are called to love one another as Jesus has loved us.” Love, he said, is the distinctive mark of the Christian.

Town Hall:
Thank you to all of you who attended the town hall meeting to discuss our church renovation. I also appreciate the emails too. There were many good topics brought up, many of which we discussed at our building committee meetings. Where do we go from here? More information to follow soon.

Remember:
Memorial Day is a day on which those who died in active military service are remembered. Looking forward to seeing many of you at our Memorial Day Mass at 10 am at Evergreen Cemetery.

Omaha bound:
At this time of the year, the College baseball World Series is held in Omaha every year. I will be there for a different reason. From May 31 – June 8, I will be serving with the Institute for Priestly Formation at Creighton University. About 200 seminarians from around the country will be there. I will be serving as a spiritual director for some of the men during their eight day retreat. I might attend a game too!

Fun Fest:
The Fun Fest seems to be picking up momentum. Please see pages 6 & 7 for more information on the Festival which is held from June 7 – 10.

DSA:
Many, many thanks for all of you who have made a Diocesan Services Appeal (DSA) contribution. To date, 280 parishioners have given $80,259. I haven’t given my pledge yet, but plan on doing so this week. Hope you can do the same if you have not given yet.

Mass Times:
Last week we reported on the new Mass schedule. I really wish we could provide more daily Mass times here. But considering we will have two – three daily Masses at St. Mark’s, plus additional funerals and visits to senior residences and hospital coverage, it seems as though our schedule will be fuller. Thanks for understanding!

St. Joseph Pilgrimage: A few years ago I went on the St. Joseph Pilgrimage to the Shrines in Quebec, Canada. I had a wonderful time. This year the same pilgrimage is being offered from August 6 – 10. Fr. Ken Coughlin is the chaplain. Please see page 13 for more details.

School Auction:
I had a wonderful time at our school auction last Saturday. Thank you to all of you who attended and served there. We should get the total net income amount soon.

50:
Last Tuesday, May 22, I went to St. Agnes in Fowlerville to celebrate the 50th anniversary of six of our priests from the diocese. That’s 300 years of priestly service! The gathering was a lot of fun. Bishop Mengeling remarked that when he arrived in the diocese 22 years ago, these six priests were in charge of big parishes. Now they are enjoying retirement. Good for them.
